Missy Franklin is an American four time gold medalist in the Olympic event of swimming. She is the record holder in the 200m backstroke and American records in 100m and 200m backstroke. Since she is a member of the national swim team, she also holds record in the 4*100m medley relay.
She was born to Dick and D.A Franklin and grew up in Colorado. She developed interest in swimming and began swimming at the age of five with the support of her mother. Since her parents are Canadian, she holds the dual citizenship of USA as well as Canada. She has been coached by Todd Schmitz from the time she turned seven. She is also four-time individual NCAA champion. She debuted in the prestigious sport event, Olympics, in 2012 Summer Olympics at the age of seventeen and won a total of five medals, out of which, four were gold. Her achievements earned her the title of World’s Swimmer of the year and the American swimmer of the year award in 2011 and 2012 respectively. In total, she has twenty-two medals in the international events under her belt, out of which, 14 are god, five are silver and three are bronze.
She is a practicing Christian and shares a close bond with God. She never let success go to her head. She appeared in the episode of Pretty Little Liars as herself on March 2013 and appeared in the documentary Touch the Wall along with Kara Lynn Joyce.
