Misty Elizabeth May-Treanor is a former beach volleyball player from the United States. She was born in 1977. She had been one of the most successful players during her span of her career. She holds the record of having 112 wins in various championships of both national and international stature on a single basis. She had a range of quite successful Olympics win along with her teammate Walsh Jennings. In fact, this duo is considered as the greatest team in beach volleyball till date.
Misty May was born in a family of athletes. She had her first game when she was of eight years of age along with her father. She was an active member of the volleyball playing teams of both her school and college. She also played games in NCAA Championships. She had her first professional match in 1999 during AVP Tour, where she opted for beach volleyball since she had lost interest in volleyball by the time she graduated out of college. From 2001 to 2008, her career soared new heights alongside her team member Walsh Jennings.
Misty May’s career is glittered with many wins and accolades. She has proudly bagged three gold medals in 2004, 2008 and 2012. Besides, she is also the winner of more than one World Championships, 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal. She had suffered injuries after her Beijing Olympics and had undergone surgery. Post her win in 2012 Olympics she announced her retirement. Currently she is serving in the form of Sports Ambassador in Special Olympics Southern California.
